  1. What a beautiful job you have done detailing out Tern. I love that it has the easy up keep of a modern boat, but the wonderful wood trim and interior detail - practical, but with soul.

Little details stand out - the tiller, the stairs, the clever use of space.

I saw your phone number and email at the bottom of the home page, so I will give you a call to talk. I am interested, and would like to learn more.

  2. My father (Bob Ellis) built a 28' Atkins ketch named Phoca. He launched her in the mid '70s. I'm wondering it is the same vessel as your former Phoca.

  3. Hey Carl,

thanks for commenting. Yes, in fact, your father did build the Phoca we sailed on our N. Pacific journey. I remember seeing his name on the plans which managed to stay with the boat. I hope he is well.

  4. Hello Matt

I wonder if you would take a minute or two to describe Tern's anchor arrangement and handling.
Out of the pictures available I assume?:

1: bov racket only supports anchor when sailing, it is not in use when achoring
2: anchor rode is combined chain and line
3: "dorade" chain pipe/hawse leads the rode to a water tight stovage
4: if rode is both chain and line I guess that no windless is installed?

    Best regards, Flemming
